Rami Malek was Too Private for Rachel Bilson's Throwback Pic

While on Dax Shepard's damn podcast, Rachel Bilson talked about an awkward interaction with her high school friend, future Oscar winner Rami Malek.

"Rami was a good friend of mine," Bilson said. "We were the same crew. We did The Crucible together senior year. We were the leads in it together, all these things. We kind of kept in contact a little bit."

"I had posted a throwback of us from our senior trip to New York, Broadway. We were super-nerdy, just the dorkiest picture of both of us. But I throw it up 'cause it's funny, and I think it's so important to be able to make fun of yourself, and he had like a gold chain, and I'm like, 'Rami where'd you get the gold chain?' Whatever. So I'm just being funny, we were good friends."

She was told by Rami's stylist that he didn't appreciate the gesture, and Rachel was taken aback when even the creator of the O.C. criticized her: "It was right before the Oscars, and I remember [The O.C. creator] Josh Schwartz being like, 'You did him dirty! He's about to be nominated.' And I'm like, 'What do you mean? This was my friend; it's a funny picture.'"

After she took down the pic, she sent Rami an apology: "I wrote to him a really nice message, like, 'I'm so sorry. Go get the Oscar, you're doing amazing.' And I never hear anything back. I was super-bummed because he was always so nice and we were good friends, and I'm a big fan of not taking yourself seriously, especially at that level of fame and talent. But look, he wants to be super-respected, it's his thing, so I respected it. I took it down. I was just a little bummed at how it was handled."

A week later, Bilson checked her Instagram DMs and was surprised to find a message there from Malek. "But it wasn't like, 'Hey! How are you?' It was straight to 'I would really appreciate it if you take that down, I'm a really private person,'" she said. "I was like, 'Oh shit, okay."

Dolly Parton (+9 {4} Others) Named One of NME's People Who Defined 2020, Also Saved a Child's Life

Not content with being an icon of music and film, @DollyParton went the extra mile during this pandemic year https://t.co/bVJstUPTzX — NME (@NME) December 13, 2020 The big news for Dolly Parton this year was, of course, her role as a financial backer of research into a COVID vaccine. Her $1 million donation to Vanderbilt University has contributed to the development of Moderna's vaccine - you can't save 2020 much more than that. Oh, but in case you needed another reason to love Dolly this year, she also spoke up in support of Black Lives Matter, saying, “Of course Black lives matter. Do you think our little white asses are the only ones that matter? No!” How to even sum up John Boyega's 2020? He's spoken out very publicly about his thoughts on how his role in Star Wars dwindled over the course of the trilogy, but more importantly, he spoke up even louder at a Black Lives Matter demonstration in London, making waves with his passionate speech. Source ONTD, i haven’t seen Bridgerton, but do you think he’d be a good Black Panther? (I had my hopes up for multiverse Killmonger tbh). from Oh No They Didn't! https://ift.tt/3tC0bEW

ONTD Original: Monthly Movie Challenge – January

Another 10-task challenge. You obviously don’t need to do all 10 tasks, choose as many as you want, but I figured it gives you some variety and allows you to pick and choose movies that fit your taste but also maybe lead you to watch something you wouldn’t normally seek out. For each task, you can pick whatever movie fits within the guidelines, I've added links to help you out. I tried to add tasks that would allow you to get movies on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and/or Hulu – but there’s also Kanopy and Hoopla (both of which you can get free access through your library or university). Have a different movie for each task – that is, don’t have the same movie for task 2 and task 6. Tasks: 1. The man who will say yes to anything (except paying his taxes), Nicolas Cage , has a birthday on January 7th. Watch any one of his movies. 2. Watch any movie that has been referenced in Parks and Recreation . 3. I've been invited to a worrying number of house parties the last few weeks (t
